Get your vGeek on with these Official vBeers Coasters

vBeers CoastersHere’s a bit of fun for all you vBeers organisers and attendees.  Over the past couple of years vBeers has gone from strength to strength, with vBeers gatherings being organised regularly the world over.  The purpose of vBeers is to bring together like-minded individuals working with virtualization and IT technologies to meet, discuss and make new contacts and friends in a relaxed “outside of work” environment, and free from vendor sales pressure.  What better place than a bar, pub, bbq or restaurant, whilst sipping your drink of choice (beer, wine, soft-drink, etc) and whilst eating with a few snacks.  It’s all about the vCommunity!

In the interests of doing something fun and continuing with the theme of giving something back to the vCommunity I have designed and had created some unique vBeers.org beer coasters.

Whilst at the London VMUG vBeers in mid-2012 a handful of fellow virtualization and storage bloggers expressed their interest in being involved.  So what better way than by having them join in with spreading the vBeers Coaster love, and kindly contributing towards the cost of having the vBeers Coasters created.  As you can see from the picture below, there is the vBeers logo on the front and on the rear of the coaster the logos of the bloggers who contributed towards the cost of having them created and sending these coasters out to the vBeers masses.

    vBeers Beer Mats

I’m not sure how popular these vBeers coasters will be, though I personally think they’re pretty nifty and if nothing else are a bit of fun. They are also a good way of identifying other attending vGeeks in a crowd at a vBeers event – great to those first timers.

I have kicked things off by having 500 coasters created – which makes them a highly collectable vGeek item.Winking smile

Though if they prove popular I will have more created and open up the opportunity to other bloggers to have their blog’s logo emblazoned on the back of the vBeers coaster. I am considering doing some seasonable vBeers coasters as well so you can mix up your coasters to match the time of the year/season. Collect them, trade them with you friends…  or you could even put your beer/wine/soft drink (delete where applicable) glass on them – imagine that!

How Do I Get My Hands On Them?

If you arrange regular vBeers events and fancy some vBeers coasters to spice-up your next vBeersevent(s) then get in touch with me (simon at techhead do co dot uk), letting me know where in the world you run your vBeers event and the address to send the vBeers coasters.  Depending on where you live there may be a small charge to cover postage.

Anyway, I hope you like them and find them as much fun as I had designing them.Smile

Acknowledgement: Thanks, to Jane, Simon, Alaric and the London VMUG team, as after seeing their London VMUG coasters finally spurred me into action to designing one for vBeers after a number of months of just thinking about it.

Christmas vBeers – London (Wed 19th December 2012)

Christmas vBeers London 2012Ok folks, here it is!  The UK London Christmas vBeers for 2012.  Alaric Davies (of London VMUG fame) and I were talking and felt that a Christmas vBeers was in order.  As a side note, we haven’t had as many vBeers events in London this year, though I’m hoping to change this in 2013 and re-introduce a more regular get-together.

So… if you’re in the UK and will be in London on Wednesday 19th December come and join in the Christmas vGeek festivities.  This is a fantastic opportunity for you to meet existing vFriends, meet new folk to share your virtualization stories and experiences with, and to also network (non cabling variety).

We’re going to hold it in the old ‘The Cittie of Yorke’ pub which is placed centrally to both London’s West End and The City. This venue serves a fine of selection of English beers along with soft drinks and bar snacks.  Chances are that we will end up going for a curry afterwards.

vBeers Tweetup – VMworld San Francisco 2012 (Saturday 25th August 2012)

VMworld San Francisco 2012 vBeersVMworld San Francisco 2012 is almost here and it’s time for another vBeers Tweetup!  The last vBeers Tweetup from VMworld SF 2009 was a great time  so I couldn’t let this opportunity go by without arranging one. The VMworld San Francisco vBeers Tweetup will be held on Saturday 25th August, the day before the show doors open.

The vBeers Tweetup is intended as a way to relax, chill-out and catch up with friends, new and old.  If you don’t know anyone attending then that doesn’t matter as your fellow vGeeks are a friendly welcoming bunch who also like to network, talk tech and share vStories.

In true Tweetup tradition this vBeers Tweetup is not sponsored, it is a case of turning up, enjoying yourself and covering the cost of your own drinks and any food.  Vendor sponsored parties start the following day.  Smile

Where is this VMworld San Francisco 2012 vBeers Tweetup going to be held?

VMworld San Francisco 2012 vBeers TweetupThe venue for this VMworld vBeers Tweetup is back at “The Chieftain” Irish pub and restaurant, which has a great relaxed informal atmosphere with good food and drink.  Good news as they have free Wi-Fi, which will save all of you from overseas from clocking-up massive data bills on your Smart Phones.

As for registering, no need – all you need to do is turn up, though if you’d like you RSVP to give me an idea of numbers please click here.  First come, first served with seating..

    Hope to see you there!

Is this definitely on? bearing in mind the following week is #LonVMUG??

Hi Simon, yes once quarter we end of with vBeers and LonVMUG twice in one month!

        • TechHead 6:37 am on Tuesday 5 July 2011 Permalink | Reply

Unfortunately due to a last minute work commitment out of town I’ll be unable to make it this month, also to the VMUG vBeers the following week. I know Simon Long will also be away for work as well. :( I definitely plan to be there for next month’s vBeers in August however. :)

Just to confirm: We always keep the ‘First Thursday of every month’ schedule even on months where the London VMUG falls so as to avoid any confusion month to month and also for those people who can’t make it along to the VMUG.

I’ll be there with my pal virtual Simon (he is not really called that, but thought he should be!). This will be my first vBeer’s :)

vBeers–Special London Event (Thurs 24th March)

Ok folks, we have a special vBeers event this month that is definitely worth attending.  Firstly however just to confirm, the schedule of the vBeers London event being the first Thursday of every month still stands though after speaking with my friend Mr StorageBod he informed me of an extra special Storage Beers (#StorageBeers) event this week which sees the Infosmack crew, Greg Knieriemen and Marc Farley over from the good ole US of A.  In fact there is talk that an episode of Infosmack may be recorded live from this get together which will no doubt be entertaining.

After speaking with StorageBod further it was decided that this was a good opportunity to also bring the virtualization community into the mix and incorporate a vBeers at the same time.  So keep the following date, time and bat channel free to come meet, mingle and chat with your fellow Storage, Virtualization and Infosmack enthusiasts.  As always vBeers is an open invite for anyone to attend including vendors (leave your sales hats at the door).  Smile

    See you there!

    vBeers – Amsterdam (Thurs 3rd March 2011)

Come on along to the newly formed Amsterdam vBeers.  The Dutch most certainly like their virtualization and of course brew a good beer so if you’re around this Thursday why not head down to Cafe de Omval to meet up with some fellow virtualization enthusiasts/geeks/fans.
